Riyadh, December 2019: Riyadh Chamber was the venue for a workshop titled ‘Innovative Logistics Solutions to Upgrade Your Business’ organized by King Abdullah Port in cooperation with the Chamber as part of the Port’s efforts to strengthen ties with the trade and industry sectors in the capital.
The attendees included representatives of import, export and logistics companies operating in Riyadh whose work is focused on maritime trade, who learned about the best utilization of all the services provided by King Abdullah Port.
This initiative comes in line with Vision 2030 in general and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program in particular, which stipulated the support of exports and the development of the necessary logistics to transform KSA into a unique industrial and logistics platform between three continents.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Sulayman Anizi, Vice Chairman of the Transport and Logistics Committee at the Chamber, welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the interest of the private sector in the development of logistics, which will enhance the Kingdom’s position on the global transport and logistics map, and will contribute to achieving the goals of Vision 2030.
During the workshop, King Abdullah Port gave a presentation about the Port and answered all the attendees’ questions. Bilateral meetings were held between Port officials and representatives of the companies and investors.
The presentation included extensive information about King Abdullah Port, which is the first fully privately owned, developed and operated commercial port in the region, and the second fastest-growing port in the world in 2018.
The workshop attendees were also given an overview of the innovative logistics solutions provided by King Abdullah Port that allow companies and investors to upgrade their business, benefiting from the Port’s strategic location on the Red Sea coast connecting trade between Asia, Africa and Europe to reach four billion consumers on the three continents and giving direct access to 400 million consumers in the Middle East.
The workshop addressed the Port’s integrated road network and its multiple berths, which are the deepest in the world, in addition to the Bonded and Re-export Zone, making King Abdullah Port the preferred choice for companies and investors due to its ultimate annual handling capacity of up to 20 million TEU and its variety of new investment opportunities
The presentation also stated the privileges and logistics solutions provided for exporters and importers, including speedy procedures, savings and logistics solutions for storage and transportation.
Saudi Exports representative Mr. Jaser Al-Ghamdi was invited by the Port to participate in the workshop, based on the vital and major role played by Saudi Exports, as well as the great efforts it exerts in order to increase Saudi non-oil exports and promote openness to global markets.
Dr. Meshal Al Mofadhi, representative of SIDF, was also invited, given SIDF’s effective efforts in providing financial and advisory support and bringing innovative solutions for the growth and development of local industry, as well as raising its level of competitiveness.
Run by the Ports Development Company, King Abdullah Port is the region’s first port to be fully owned, developed and operated by the private sector. It has been listed as the fastest-growing container port and one of the world’s 100 largest ports after less than four years of operation. 10 of the largest shipping lines work at the port to offer integrated services to importers and exporters.
